Lab: small experiments

Small projects I build to try out ideas I find interesting: signal processing, physics, 3D in the browser or a bot that plays against you. They are not meant to be products, just a place to experiment.

Image to Sound

Turns a photo into a sound and rebuilds it from that sound, bit for bit. Send the audio over WhatsApp and let someone else uncover the photo.

How it works

Real digital modulation: multichannel MFSK for a thumbnail that survives WhatsApp voice notes, and OFDM-DQPSK for an HD layer.
Reed-Solomon error correction with interleaving, chirp sync through FFT cross-correlation, Goertzel demodulation and CRC32 checks.
Everything runs in the browser with Canvas, the Web Audio API and Web Workers. No backend, no database, no AI.

Creature Factory

A 3D toy: build absurd creatures out of body parts, bring them to life and watch them try to reach the goal.

How it works

Parts are not decorative: legs, wheels, thrusters, eyes and antennae change the mass, the support points and the creature’s brain.
Rapier physics (WebAssembly) at a fixed 60 Hz step, deterministic: the same creature always repeats the same run.
Each body is an implicit surface that generates the 3D mesh, the anchor points and the collider. Procedural animation, no external models.

WikiRace: Results: the bot won by one click — Results: the bot won by one click

WikiRace

A race against a bot through Wikipedia: you both start on the same article and must reach the same target using only its links. Fewest clicks wins.

How it works

The bot uses no AI: it scores each link by the words it shares with the target, its categories and the target’s own links, then picks with more or less randomness depending on difficulty.
Fair play: human and bot always see exactly the same links, because each race freezes a snapshot of every article it opens.
No backend: it talks to the public Wikipedia API through a request manager with rate limiting, retries and an IndexedDB cache. Catalog races are verified with a route search.
